Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. sour milk
  • 1/2 c. blackberry jam (any jam may be used)
  • 2 c. pastry flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2/3 c. shortening, melted

Method

  • Beat eggs; add sugar, sour milk and jam.
  • Sift together flour, spices, baking powder and soda and add through sifter to first mixture.
  • Stir in melted shortening and beat thoroughly.
  • Bake in two greased layer cake pans in a moderate oven (350°) for 25 to 35 minutes.
  • Spread with Fluffy White Icing.
