Ingredients

  • 2 c. raisins
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs, beaten well
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice

Method

  • Cook raisins for 5 minutes in water.
  • Drain and let cool. Cream shortening.
  • Add sugar, vanilla, eggs and nuts.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix all ingredients together well.
  • Spoon onto cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 375° for 10 minutes.
