Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 stick margarine (1/2 c.)
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 5 egg yolks (save whites)
- 1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. nuts
- 1 can Angel Flake coconut
- 5 egg whites
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream sugar, margarine, shortening, egg yolks and soda (dissolved in buttermilk).
- Add flour, vanilla, nuts and coconut.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Fold in egg whites with wire beater gently.
- Bake approximately 30 minutes at 350°.
- Cool before adding icing.
