Ingredients

  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed, or your own dough
  • 1/4 c. softened butter or margarine
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. dried marjoram
  • 3/4 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 2 Tbsp. sesame seed and/or grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  • On lightly floured surface, roll dough out into 12-inch square. Combine butter and seasoning; spread over dough.
  • Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese.
  • Fold dough into thirds.
  • Cut crosswise into 24 strips (1/2 inch strips).
  • Twist each strip twice and pinch ends together.
  • Place on greased baking sheet.
  • Cover, allow to raise until almost double, about 30 minutes.
  • In a small bowl beat egg and water together.
  • Brush on rolls.
  • Sprinkle with cheese and/or sesame seed.
  • Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, or until done.
