Ingredients

  • 5 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. yeast (1 pkg.)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. corn oil
  • 2 c. warm water

Method

  • Put flour in bowl and mix in yeast, salt and oil.
  • Add water and work/knead until velvety smooth.
  • Put in bowl; cover with cloth and let rise until doubled in size.
  • Punch down.
  • Knead 5 minutes. Shape into 2 loaves in greased pans.
  • Cover with cloth and let rise until doubled.
  • Preheat oven to 450°.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, then reduce heat to 350° and bake 45 minutes more.
  • It will sound hollow when tapped.
