Ingredients

  • 1 14 cups shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 34 cup natural cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 teaspoon table salt

Method

  • Put shortening in a large bowl.
  • Put in microwave on high 30 seconds.
  • Cream sugar into shortening.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
  • Blend into wet mixture; batter will be stiff.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350F for 8-9 minutes.
  • Cool on cookie sheet until set, about 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
