Ingredients

  • 1 c. unbleached flour
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted
  • 1/4 c. milk, room temperature
  • oil for skillet

Method

  • Combine flours with salt.
  • In a large bowl, mix milk with 3/4 cup of warm water.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of the butter and gradually begin adding flour.
  • Blend well to make a soft dough, adding more flour or water as necessary.
  • The consistency should be a little less firm than loaf-bread dough.
  • Cover bowl with a lint-free cloth and let the dough "rest" for about an hour.
  • Then turn it out onto a floured surface and divide into 4 equal parts.
