Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 egg yolks (save whites)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. pecans, shelled and crushed

Method

  • Cream butter, sugars and eggs; add vanilla and mix well.
  • Add flour and salt.
  • Refrigerate dough until chilled.
  • Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts.
  • Dip the balls in egg whites and roll in the crushed pecans.
  • Place on a greased cookie sheet and smash center of ball with thumb, leaving a bowl shape.
  • Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • The cooled cookies can be iced with a favorite icing or filled with fruit jam.
