Ingredients
- 1 c. white corn meal
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. grated onion
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. sweet milk
Method
- Beat eggs well.
- Add all milk and beat well.
- Add all the dry ingredients and onions.
- Cook in deep fat at 350°.
- They should be mealy on the inside and a golden crisp brown on the outside.
- If the dough becomes too thick, add more milk.
- Wonderful with fish and soups, especially with Brunswick Stew.
