- 5 c. boiling water
- 2 c. cornmeal
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- small can tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped
- small clove garlic
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Method
- Make mush with water and cornmeal and line 9-inch square pan with 2-inch layer of mush.
- Fry onion in oil until pale yellow; add meat and brown lightly.
- Add tomatoes, garlic, chili powder, salt and pepper and simmer 10 minutes.
- Pour into pan and top with remaining mush.
- Bake for 2 hours at 325°.
