Ingredients
- 1 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. salad oil
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Method
- Sift dry ingredients; add milk, oil and vanilla.
- Mix well until batter is smooth.
- Blend in nuts.
- Spread batter into a greased, floured 9 x 9-inch pan.
- Sprinkle one cup packed brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa over batter.
- Pour 1 3/4 cups hot water over that.
- Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
- Brownie-like cake comes to the top with a chocolate pudding on the bottom.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
