Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. light cream or evaporated milk
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Method

  • In a 1-quart saucepan, mix the cocoa, sugar, corn syrup, cream or milk, salt and butter.
  • Stir over low heat until mixture comes to a full boil.
  • Cook 3 minutes, stirring once or twice.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  • Sauce may be refrigerated in a covered container.
  • Reheat in microwave or hot water before serving.
  • Makes 2 1/2 cups.
