Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 6 Tbsp. shortening
- 4 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. instant potatoes (dry)
- 6 1/2 to 8 c. flour
- 5 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 1/4 c. honey
- 1 Tbsp. salt
Method
- Sprinkle yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.
- Melt shortening in saucepan.
- Remove and add honey and remaining 4 1/2 cups water. Add the whole wheat flour, instant potatoes, dry milk and salt to saucepan.
- Beat until smooth.
- Add yeast and beat well.
- With a wooden spoon, add enough white flour to make dough leave sides of bowl.
- Let rise 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Punch down and divide into 3 loaves.
- Bake at 400° for 50 minutes.
