Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. bread flour
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 3 Tbsp. nonfat dry milk
  • 1/4 oz. pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 Tbsp. wheat germ

Method

  • Using butter, grease a 1/2-quart casserole dish or 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  • Set aside.
  • In large bowl, mix 1/2 cup bread flour, whole wheat flour, nonfat dry milk, yeast, salt, honey and vegetable oil, with mixer on low speed; mix until blended.
  • While mixing, add hot water.
  • Continue mixing until smooth, about 3 minutes.
  • Add remaining cup of bread flour, gradually mixing at high speed until smooth.
