Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups honey
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Method

  • Cream shortening and honey.
  • Add beaten eggs; mix well.
  • Mix cake flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt together.
  • Add flour mixture to shortening mixture alternately with the buttermilk.
  • Pour into two 9 inch cake pans.
  • Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 to 40 minutes, until cake tests done.
