Ingredients
- 7 c. white, unbleached flour
- 1/2 c. honey, molasses or maple syrup
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. dry yeast (2 small pkg.)
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 1 c. warm water
- raisins and nuts (1 c. each, optional)
Method
- Dissolve and proof yeast in 1 cup warm water; add 1 tablespoon honey to yeast water and let foam.
- Stir 1 1/2 cups hot water, salt and butter until butter melts; add honey.
- Add yeast and all mixtures together in large bowl.
- Add flour a cup at a time, stirring.
- Knead dough 5 to 10 minutes until smooth; grease bowl and dough.
