Ingredients

  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 23 ounces tomato sauce
  • 12 ounces water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 34 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 14 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 14 cup cold water

Method

  • In a skillet, brown hamburger; drain well.
  • Combine remaining ingredients, except the cornstarch and 1/4 cup water, and stir into skillet, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Thicken by slowly stirring in up to two 2 tablespoons of cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup of water.
  • Simmer a few minutes more.
  • Serve over spaghetti.
