Ingredients

  • 1 can Hershey's syrup
  • 1 lb. Hershey's chocolate candy (16 oz.)
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 c. plain flour (or self-rising flour, but omit soda)
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • chopped black walnuts (optional)

Method

  • Melt
  • chocolates
  • over low heat.
  • Cool and add vanilla. Cream sugar and butter.
  • Add eggs, 1 at a time.
  • Add chocolate mixture to
  • butter.
  • Add
  • flour
  • and soda mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  • Add nuts.
  • Grease and flour 3 loaf pans or 1 Bundt pan and
  • loaf pan or 1 large sheet pan.
  • Bake at 300° to
  • 350° for
  • approximately
  • 1 hour.
  • Check with toothpick or finger press after 45 minutes.
  • Cool before taking from pans.
