Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. hot water (110 degrees)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tbsp. soft butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon crushed dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed rosemary
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • Poppy or possibly sesame seeds (to sprinkle on top of baked bread)

Method

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water, add in salt, sugar and butter.
  • Add in flour and herbs; mix well.
  • Add in up to 1/2 c. flour as needed in order to knead it into a dough for about 5 min.
  • Cover and let stand in a hot place for it to rise and double in size, about 1 1/2 hrs.
  • Form dough into 2 oblong loaves and place into 2 oiled baking pans, 4"x7"x2".
  • Brush with water and let it rise another hour.
  • Brush again and sprinkle tops with seeds.
  • Bake in preheated 425 degree oven about 25 to 30 min, till a golden color.
  • Cold, serve sliced.
