Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. hamburger
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 4 celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 qt. tomatoes
  • 1 qt. water
  • 1/4 c. rice
  • 4 potatoes, diced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. dill weed
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 cabbage, chopped

Method

  • Brown meat and onion.
  • Add carrots, celery, tomatoes and water.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Add rice; simmer 30 minutes.
  • Add potatoes, herbs and spices and cook 30 minutes.
  • Add cabbage and cook 5 minutes before serving.
