Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. hamburg
  • 1 c. diced onion
  • 4 c. water
  • 1 beef bouillon cube (optional)
  • 1 potato, chopped
  • 1 c. sliced carrots
  • 1 c. shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 c. uncooked rice
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes

Method

  • Chop onion.
  • Brown hamburg and onion in large pot.
  • Drain off fat.
  • Add water and bouillon cube.
  • Wash and chop potato and carrots.
  • Wash and shred cabbage.
  • Add potato, carrots and cabbage.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Sprinkle rice into the mixture.
  • Add pepper.
  • Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  • Add tomatoes.
  • Heat to simmering and serve.
