Ingredients

  • 2 (1 lb.) cans cut green beans, drained
  • 1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1 tsp. Beau Monde
  • 1 can water chestnuts, sliced
  • 1 stack pkg. Ritz crackers, rolled to fine crumbs
  • melted butter

Method

  • Grease 1 to 2-quart baking dish liberally with butter.
  • Cover sides and bottom of buttered dish with half of the Ritz crumbs. Place in layers:
  • beans, cheese, onion and water chestnuts.
  • Makes 2 layers.
  • Cover with mushroom soup.
  • Top with remaining Ritz cracker crumbs.
  • Drizzle 3 or 4 tablespoons melted butter over crumbs.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
  • Serves 10 to 12 people.
