Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

Method

  • Combine margarine and sugar, beat well. Add the beaten eggs and mix well. Set aside. Sift together dry ingredients. Alternately add milk and dry mixture to batter, mixing well. Add vanilla and lemon extract and pour into greased and floured pans. Cover with crumb topping and bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • Crumb topping: Cream together until good and crumbly butter, sugar, flour,, cinnamon, and nutmeg. This is best accomplished using your hands.
