Ingredients
- 6 c. (1-inch cubes) day old French or Italian bread
- 6 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- confectioners sugar and maple syrup
Method
- Place bread cubes in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. In medium bowl, beat together eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon until well blended.
- Pour over bread and lightly toss until bread is evenly coated.
- Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight.
- Bake in preheated 400° oven until golden brown and set, about 40 minutes.
- Serve warm with confectioners sugar or maple syrup.
