Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. New Orleans molasses
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 Tbsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 Tbsp. soda, dissolved in vinegar
- 5 c. flour
- 1 level tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Method
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Add eggs, molasses, soda and vinegar.
- Add sifted flour, salt and spices.
- Roll thin on a pastry cloth.
- Bake in moderate oven at 375°.
- Watch carefully, as ginger cookies burn easily.
