Ingredients
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. other spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, any combination you like)
- 1/2 c. yogurt or buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- about 1/2 c. applesauce or some nuts or raisins (optional)
Method
- Beat the molasses mixture a minute or so, then pour it into the flour mixture.
- Stir it just until you can't see any more flour.
- Butter (grease) an 8 or 9-inch square baking pan.
- Pour the batter into it and bake about 30 minutes.
