Ingredients

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 small pkg. Bisquick pancake mix or 1 1/3 c.

Method

  • Beat egg; mix in other ingredients using a spoon; mix until smooth.
  • Heat about 1/2 inch oil or shortening in a skillet. Holding your finger over the end of a funnel, fill funnel with 1/4 cup batter.
  • Remove finger and move to make an open lacy pattern. Fry until golden brown, turning once.
  • Drain on paper towel. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm.
  • Yields 5 large cakes.
