Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk or cream
  • 4 or 5 Tbsp. cocoa or 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Put sugar, milk and cocoa or chocolate into saucepan.
  • Stir and boil until it makes a soft ball when tested in cold water. Take from heat; add butter and vanilla.
  • Cool.
  • Stir until creamy.
  • Pour on buttered plate and cut into squares.
  • May be changed by omitting cocoa or chocolate and adding peanut butter with the butter and vanilla.
  • Also may add a teaspoon of peanut butter with the butter and vanilla in the chocolate mixture, making it creamier and a deliciously different flavor.
