Ingredients
- 1 lb. raisins
- 2 c. hot water
- 1 c. melted Crisco
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 c. sifted flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. each: nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sherry wine
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 pkg. or jar candied fruit mix
Method
- Put hot water over raisins.
- Mix raisins, sugar and Crisco. Mix dry ingredients.
- Add dry ingredients to raisin mixture when cool, not cold.
- Add fruit, nuts and wine.
- Put into well-greased and floured pans.
- Fill to 1-inch of top.
- Start baking at 350° for 20 minutes, then reduce to 300° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
