Ingredients
- 2 qt. shelled fresh peas
- 2 slices bacon
Method
- Fry 2 slices of bacon in a heavy, 4-quart pot.
- Add the fresh peas.
- Cook, covered, on medium heat, stirring often.
- They will "steam fry" for about 20 minutes.
- Stir frequently, do not let them burn.
- Add salt (to taste) and enough water to cover the peas (or to make the amount of pea "juice" that you want).
- When they begin to look cooked, turn the heat down more and cook until tender.
