Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c. sliced olives
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 can (6oz) tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 loaf (20") French bread (halved lengthwise)
  • 3 medium tomatoes (sliced)
  • 2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese

Method

  • In a bowl, combine the uncooked beef, olives, onion, Parmesan cheese, tomato paste, oregano, salt and pepper.
  • Spread to the edges of the cut surface of the bread.
  • Broil 6-inches from the heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until the meat is fully cooked.
  • Top with tomatoes and the mozzarella cheese.
  • Broil 2 to 3 minutes more or until cheese is melted.
  • Serve immediately.
