Ingredients
- 6 to 8 fresh apples
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 lb. raisins
- 1 c. walnuts, chopped
- 4 tsp. baking soda
- pinch of ginger
- 3/4 c. butter
- 4 c. flour
Method
- According to size of apples, process enough to produce 2 1/2 cups of applesauce.
- In hot applesauce add soda and then butter. Add sugar and remaining ingredients, stir well.
- In a 13 x 9-inch baking pan, bake at 350° for 1 hour or until cake tester comes out clean.
- This is a large cake.
