- 3 pkg. frozen French-style green beans or 2 cans
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 tsp. dried onion flakes
- paprika
- 8 oz. can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 to 3 oz. slivered almonds
Method
- Cook beans per directions on package or if using cans, drain well.
- Melt butter in Dutch oven.
- Add soup and cream cheese. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until cream cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in green beans, onion flakes, water chestnuts, garlic salt, pepper and cheese.
- Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 1 3/4-quart casserole dish.
- Top with almonds.
- Sprinkle on paprika.
- Bake at 350°, uncovered, 45 minutes.
