Ingredients

  • 3 pkg. frozen French-style green beans or 2 cans
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp. dried onion flakes
  • paprika
  • 8 oz. can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 to 3 oz. slivered almonds

Method

  • Cook beans per directions on package or if using cans, drain well.
  • Melt butter in Dutch oven.
  • Add soup and cream cheese. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until cream cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in green beans, onion flakes, water chestnuts, garlic salt, pepper and cheese.
  • Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 1 3/4-quart casserole dish.
  • Top with almonds.
  • Sprinkle on paprika.
  • Bake at 350°, uncovered, 45 minutes.
