Ingredients
- 4 c. thinly sliced onions
- 3 Tbsp. margarine
- 5 c. beef broth (may use canned)
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- dash of pepper
- 4 oz. Swiss cheese
- 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
- 6 slices French bread, toasted
Method
- In 5-quart Dutch oven, saute onions in margarine over low heat until onions are tender.
- Stir in beef broth, bouillon cube, Worcestershire sauce and pepper.
- Simmer for 20 minutes.
- In medium bowl, combine cheeses.
- Ladle soup into ovenproof bowl. Top each with French bread and top with 2 tablespoons of cheese mixture.
- Place under oven broiler for 1 to 3 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
- Serve hot.
- Place bowls on cookie sheet for easy broiling.
