Ingredients
- 5 lb. flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. salt
- 1/4 lb. shortening
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 2 1/2 c. water (more or less)
Method
- Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening together; add yeast and water.
- Mix until smooth.
- Put in nine 1 pound loaves; let rise about 1 hour.
- Roll out dough to form long loaves.
- Put in loaf pans; let set for 1 1/2 hours.
- Punch down; let rise again.
- Bake in preheated 400° oven about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Yield: 9 loaves.
