Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 sq. unsweetened Baker's chocolate, melted
  • 1 2/3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Method

  • Cream together brown sugar and shortening.
  • Add to creamed mixture the egg and milk.
  • Mix well.
  • Add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
  • Drop by teaspoons on cookie sheet; bake at 350° until they spring back when touched lightly.
  • Time depends on how small you make the cookies.
  • Ice with white icing if desired when cooled.
