Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. farina (cream of wheat)
  • 1/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 pt. whipped heavy cream
  • maraschino cherries

Method

  • Beat egg yolks until light and gradually add next 6 ingredients.
  • Beat the 6 egg whites until stiff and fold into first mixture.
  • Place batter in greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake 40 minutes at 350°.
  • Take from oven while hot (it will look like it flopped).
  • Break up into pieces in a bowl.
  • When cold, place pieces on a large cake plate alternating with layers of whipped cream. Form into a mound shape and cover with whipped cream.
  • Decorate with cherry halves.
  • Place in refrigerator 1 to 2 hours before serving.
