- 2 1/2 to 3 lb. sirloin, cubed
- 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes with liquid
- 1 1/2 lb. sliced carrots
- 1 1/2 c. sliced celery
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 cans sliced water chestnuts
- 3/4 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. Minute brand tapioca
- 1/2 c. red wine
- pepper to taste
Method
- Mix all ingredients in a 4-quart casserole or Dutch oven. Cover and cook at 250° for 5 hours, stirring once or twice. (Ingredients and quantities can be varied to your liking.)
- This can be prepared ahead of time but not frozen.
- Serves 6.
