Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. cake flour
  • chopped nuts (from yield of 1 lb. unshelled filberts)

Method

  • Chop nuts fine with food processor; soften butter.
  • Add sugar and vanilla.
  • Mix together all ingredients.
  • Roll between sheets of waxed paper.
  • Chill if dough gets sticky.
  • Don't add more flour.
  • A little powdered sugar will do.
  • Cut in fancy shapes.
  • Bake 12 minutes at 300° to a light brown.
  • Cool and decorate with pink and green icing.
