Ingredients

  • 3 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 pkg. powdered yeast
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • flour (plain)

Method

  • Scald in pan the milk, sugar and shortening.
  • Let cool. Dissolve yeast in water and add to milk mixture.
  • Add enough flour to make a thin batter.
  • You can use a mixture for this part.
  • Cover and set aside until double in size.
  • Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and soda.
  • Two cups of flour will be good at this time.
  • You may have to add more to make a soft dough consistency. You may store this in refrigerator a couple of days, but make sure your container is much larger than the dough mixture and is oiled and covered tightly.
