- 1 lb. ground chuck or round
- 4 medium onions, chopped
- 1/2 c. good cooking oil
- 3 lb. tomato puree
- 3 lb. cooked kidney beans
- 3 cloves garlic, mashed
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 Tbsp. m.s.g.
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. chili powder
- 2 Tbsp. crushed red pepper
Method
- Lightly brown onions and meat; break up meat in small pieces. Add puree and everything except kidney beans.
- Simmer 1 1/2 hours. Add beans; cook 5 minutes longer.
- Serves 8 to 10.
