Ingredients

  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c. flour

Method

  • Combine in large bowl first 4 ingredients; stir until melted. Cool until lukewarm.
  • Sprinkle yeast in water; let set 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Stir and add to cooled mixture.
  • Beat egg and add to mixture.
  • Add 2 cups flour; beat well with a spoon.
  • Stir in rest of flour slowly.
  • Put in bowl and store in refrigerator overnight.
