Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons Salt
  • 1-1/4 cup White Sugar, Divided
  • 7 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa, Divided
  • 1/2 cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1-1/4 cup Almost Boiling Water

Method

  • Grease an 8 x 8 inch baking pan. Pour butter in bottom of the baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, 3/4 cup of sugar and 3 tablespoons cocoa. Add milk and vanilla. Stir to combine and spoon into the baking pan on top of the butter. Do not mix in.
  • Combine remaining 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar and 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) cocoa. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the pan. Don't mix in. Slowly pour boiling water over. Do not mix in.
  • Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes or until the center is set.
