Ingredients
- 2 c. warm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 Packages dry yeast
- 3 teaspoon salt
- 2 c. flour
- 2 Large eggs
- 1/2 c. shortening, softened
- 4 1/2 c. flour
Method
- Combine warm water, sugar and yeast.
- Stir till dissolved.
- Add in salt and 2 c. flour.
- Beat for 2 min with a rotary mixer.
- Add in Large eggs and softened shortening.
- Beat for 1 minute.
- Then work in 4 1/2 c. flour.
- Cover and let rest for 20 min.
- Shape into desired recipe.
- STICKY BUNS: Take 1/2 of dough recipe.
- Roll into 9"x18" rectangle.
- Brush with melted butter.
- Sprinkle with 1/2 c. brown sugar.
- Roll like a sausage and seal the edges.
- Place 1 tsp.
- melted butter and 1 tsp.
- brown sugar in muffin or possibly cupcake sections; sprinkle with crushed walnuts.
- Cut dough into 18 slices.
- Place 1 in each of the muffin sections.
- Cover and let rise 40 to 50 min till doubled.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 18 to 20 min.
- Loosen from pan and invert to remove.
- You can make dinner rolls with the other half of the dough.
- Shape dough into long roll.
- Cut into 18 parts.
- Shape in a ball and place side by side in a greased 9"x13" pan.
- Let rise till doubled and bake as above.
- KOLACHY: 1/2 of dough recipe.
- Roll out into 1/2" thickness.
- Cut in circles.
- Place on a greased cookie sheet and let rise.
- Press an indentation into the center of the circle and fill with pie filling of your choice.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 min.
- Cold and frost edges with confectioners' sugar icing: 2 tbsp.
- lowfat milk 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
