Ingredients

  • 6 cups of sliced macintosh apples
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar divided
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons of margarine
  • graham cracker crust
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour divided

Method

  • preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  • peel and slice apples sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning
  • mix brown sugar, 3/4 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/2 cup of flour.
  • pour dry mixture in with apples and mix thoroughly
  • in the mean time, spread the beaten egg yolk around the bottom and edges of crust and bake for just 5 minutes to seal the crust
  • pour apple mixture into the pie crust
  • mix remaining ingredients with margarine until lumpy mixure, sprinkle over the apple pie until covered
  • bake for 50 minutes + or - a few depending on oven
