- 2 large cans whole green beans, drained
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 can pimentos, sliced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. slivered almonds
- 1 stick butter or oleo
- 1/2 can sliced water chestnuts
- 1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Method
- Saute onion in butter or oleo until clear, not brown.
- Place 1 can beans in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
- Layer onions, pimentos, cheese, water chestnuts and a few almonds.
- Repeat beans and rest of ingredients.
- Cover with mushroom soup.
- Top with bread crumbs. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes or until brown.
- Cover first 15 minutes.
