Ingredients

  • 2 large cans whole green beans, drained
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can pimentos, sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • bread crumbs
  • 1/4 c. slivered almonds
  • 1 stick butter or oleo
  • 1/2 can sliced water chestnuts
  • 1 c. grated Cheddar cheese

Method

  • Saute onion in butter or oleo until clear, not brown.
  • Place 1 can beans in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
  • Layer onions, pimentos, cheese, water chestnuts and a few almonds.
  • Repeat beans and rest of ingredients.
  • Cover with mushroom soup.
  • Top with bread crumbs. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes or until brown.
  • Cover first 15 minutes.
