Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean beef (ground or cubed)
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes
  • 1 c. tomato sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans kidney beans

Method

  • Combine meat, onions, garlic and green peppers. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add chili powder, sugar, tomatoes, tomato sauce, water and salt. Simmer about 1 1/2 hours. Before serving, add kidney beans and heat thoroughly.
