Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Karo syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 c. dates, chopped
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • powdered sugar

Method

  • Beat eggs, salt and almond extract.
  • Beat until light. Gradually beat in sugar and syrup.
  • Add dates and nuts.
  • Mix well. Fold in sifted flour.
  • Pour into 2 greased 8-inch square cake pans.
  • Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes, until edges are brown. Remove from oven and, while hot, cut into 1 1/2-inch squares. Shape into small balls.
  • Roll in powdered sugar.
  • Makes 40 cookies.
