Ingredients

  • 5 pound flour
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. mazzaher (orange blossom water)
  • 4 tbsp. mahlab black cherry kernel grnd
  • 1 tbsp. baking pwdr
  • 1 yeast package
  • 2 pound clarified butter
  • Lowfat milk
  • Healthy pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp. anise seed, grnd

Method

  • Mix flour, butter, sugar thoroughly.
  • Add in mazzaher mahlab and anise seed and salt.
  • Mix well.
  • Dissolve yeast and baking pwdr in hot lowfat milk.
  • Add in lowfat milk mix to flour mix.
  • Mix and knead well.
  • Add in sufficient lowfat milk till dough is hard, not sticky.
  • Allow to rise 2-3 hrs.
  • Cover with a towel.
