Ingredients

  • 2 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 12 eggs
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 boxes raisins
  • 1/2 lb. crystalized pineapple
  • 1/2 lb. red and green cherries
  • 1/4 lb. orange peel
  • 1/4 lb. lemon peel
  • 1/2 lb. English walnuts
  • 1/2 lb. black walnuts
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 2 c. grape juice

Method

  • Prepare fruits; mix and place in large bowl.
  • Soak overnight with grape juice.
  • Sift spices and flour together 3 times.
  • Cream butter; add sugar and cream together.
  • Add eggs and flour alternately, carefully mixing after each addition.
  • Add nuts gradually, mixing them well through the batter,
  • small amount at a time, then the fruit and grape juice and mix well.
  • Add vanilla. Bake in greased, lined pan.
  • Bake on 2nd shelf at 275° for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, depending on your oven.
